Instructions
1.
Obtain an
Inseam Measurement Using a Person
o
Have the person stand fully clothed,
in a normal, comfortable position. The person must be wearing shoes with a
standard heel.
o
Measure the right leg from the
underside of the crotch (known as the top inseam point) to the bottom side of
the ankle (the lowest inseam point).
o
Show the person where the hem will
fall. Verify the length, if desired. This is the time to make changes in the
length.
o
Write the measurement down.
o
Repeat, using the left leg. Measure
carefully, the length is not always the same.
Obtain an Inseam Measurement Using a Pair of Pants
o
Find a pair of pants that fit
exceptionally well. They must fit properly both in the waist and the length.
Trousers loose in the waist hang lower on the body. Using them makes the
measurement inaccurate.
o
Lay the pants on a table, on their
right side.
o
Smooth the trousers flat.
o
Lift the left leg out of the way and
measure from the crotch to the bottom of the right hem.
o
Take note of the measurement.
o
Flip the pants over and repeat with
the left leg
